Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbal Medicine is a system of healing that dates back to 168 B.C. and contains thousands of herbs used in the form of decoctions, poultices, powders, pills and elixirs.  These herbs are typically dispensed in combinations called formulas that come in a variety of manner such as pills, concentrated powders or loose herbs.  Once the pattern is determined through the use of questioning, pulse evaluation and tongue observation, the proper herbs can then be prescribed to the patient. Herbal medicine has proven to be a vital component of medicine for thousands of years and has been the source for many of the pharmaceuticals used in western medicine today.  If properly prescribed, it can deliver results often times without the common side effects that are associated with western pharmacology.

The herbs that I use in my office are screened through various laboratory methods to assure the practitioner and patient that they are free of contamination of pesticides, heavy metals, bacteria and fungus.  I have been certified through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in the use of Chinese Medicinal Herbs.
