Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is the manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person's health and well-being.  Massage therapists are trained to have an adequate knowledge of muscle insertion/attachment as well as body mechanics which helps them understand how to approach each individual’s needs for wellness.  There are various types of massage therapy methods (modalities) that are used by practitioners with many choosing to specialize in certain types of techniques and practices.   The following are some of the services offered by our knowledgeable therapists:

Trigger Point Therapy: This therapy works tender spots in painful lumps or nodules felt within a tight band of muscle. With regular work of these points it will help them to reduce the pain in that area by stimulating blood supply and clearing out toxins in the muscle. This type of work in often incorporated in deep tissue massage.

Deep Tissue Massage Therapy: is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).

Neuromuscular Therapy is a specialized form of deep tissue massage in which digital pressure and friction are used to release areas of strain in the muscle. These areas of strain are called tender or trigger points and are the cause of muscular pain symptoms.

Sports Massage: (three basic forms) pre-event massage, post-event massage, and maintenance massage. It is used to help prevent injuries, to prepare the body for athletic activity and maintain it in optimal condition, and to help athletes recover from workouts and injuries.
